Taylor Swift Sends 400,000 Fans To Vote.gov With Harris Endorsement

Through an Instagram post endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for the White House, managed to direct more than 400,000 users to visit the site vote.gov on the following day.

After the presidential debate, Swift posted her support for Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, encouraging her followers to research and vote in November. Her post included a link to vote.gov, which resulted in 405,999 users visiting the site over the course of the following day. This surge marked a drastic increase from the 30,000 average daily visits the site typically receives.

Harris’ campaign embraced Swift’s support, even releasing “Harris-Walz friendship bracelets,” inspired by Swift’s iconic Eras Tour accessory, which quickly sold out.

It is worth noting that the site’s visit doesn’t translate into more than 400,00 new voter registrations. As noted by Reuters, voter registration is done by each state, and the vote.gov site redirects users to their state’s website and provides them with useful information.

Swift’s political influence traces back to her 2018 endorsement of Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen in Tennessee. Although Bredesen lost to Republican Marsha Blackburn, Swift’s public involvement in politics continues to draw attention. After all, she has a huge fan base and is one of the most listened-to artists right now, so her influence in encouraging people to vote cannot be understated.
