Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Monday that the state plans to expand Turning Point USA chapters to every high school in Texas, warning that schools attempting to block the conservative group could face scrutiny from the Texas Education Agency.

Speaking at the Governor’s Mansion alongside Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Turning Point USA senior director Josh Thifault, Abbott highlighted that Texas already hosts more chapters of the group than any other state.

The organization currently has chapters at more than 500 Texas high schools.

“Texas ranks #1 for the most high school chapters,” Abbott wrote on X.

“Let me be clear: Any school that stands in the way of a Club America program in their school should be reported immediately to the Texas Education Agency,” Abbott said during the speaking.

When asked if any schools had done so, Abbott deferred to Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath, who confirmed no cases have been reported. “But if one does arise, they will investigate,” Abbott added.

The announcement follows Lt. Gov. Patrick’s commitment of $1 million in campaign funds last month to help launch Turning Point USA chapters at all colleges and high schools in Texas.

Turning Point USA, which Kirk founded to promote conservative views on campuses, has faced controversy in recent months, including a viral social media post falsely claiming a Round Rock high school blocked a chapter.
