Could Billionaire Mark Cuban Become Kamala Harris VP? Betting Odds Say There Is A Chance

Dallas Billionaire Mark appears to have the chance of becoming vice president, as betting odds have put him on Kamala Harris’ VP list.

After President Joe Biden’s sudden announcement on Sunday that he will not seek reelection, Harris is positioning herself as the leading Democratic candidate for the presidency, with significant support from influential party members. As Harris secures her place, discussions about potential vice-presidential candidates have turned to Cuban, the prolific Dallas billionaire and former owner of the Dallas Mavericks.

As first reported by the Dallas Morning News, BetOnline and its sportsbook have listed Cuban as a potential nominee for Harris’ vice-presidential spot alongside notable figures like North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Currently, BetOnline gives Cuban the odds of 66/1 of becoming Harris’ VP pick, which has an implied probability of 1.5% of happening. This is a really small number, but Cuban is leading the odds against politicians like Senator Raphael Warnock from Georgia.

However, Cuban has expressed in the past his reluctance to run for a political charge. In March he announced he would leave Shark Tank after Season 16 ends in 2025 and that he wouldn’t run for a political charge because he wants to spend more time with his kids.

“You know, my kids are 14, 17 and 20, Morgan. And that’s time I’m never going to get back,” Cuban told CNBC’s Morgan Brennan. “In this crazy world and how they treat families and how they treat the kids of people running — there’s just no way I’d put them through that. And you know when I’m 105, hopefully, on my deathbed, I’m not going to think back ‘I should have run for president.’ I’m gonna think back about all those memories I had with my kids while they were still in their teenage years.”

Cuban has yet to publicly announce any intentions of becoming a vice-presidential hopeful. He is seen by some as an ideal centrist candidate due to his transparency about taxes and his support for various causes, including ranked-choice voting and legalizing gambling in Texas. Cuban sold the Mavericks to Las Vegas Sands operators Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont for $3.5 billion in November 2023, shifting his focus to Cost Plus Drugs, a company aimed at making medications more affordable.

Currently, Sen. Mark Kelly, from Arizona is leading the odds at Vet online with odds of 3/2 and an implied probability of 43.5%, followed by Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, with odds of 5/2 and an implied probability of 28.6%
