“Republicans have gerrymandered me out of my district,” said Rep. Talarico in a tweet. “If they think they can keep me off the House floor, they better think again.”
Democratic State Rep. James Talarico currently represents District 52, around Round Rock, but the new redistricting schemes have changed his district so much now is set up to favor the Republicans.
Talarico’s campaign already has some of the biggest names in the democratic party backing it up, including Beto O’Rourke, Wendy Davis, Lina Hidalgo, and Joaquin Castro to name a few.
Talarico added he was not mad at the Republicans for proposing a district that favored them, but he did condemn the way they did it, “trying to get rid of me by dividing the communities of color in my district.”
