Planning To Vote By Mail In Texas? Make Sure You Apply By The Oct. 25 Deadline!

If you have plans to vote by mail in Texas, make sure to hurry up because tomorrow, October 25, is the last day to apply for a mail-in ballot for the upcoming Election Day. Make sure to read our guide to know all the important information about voting by mail.

1.- When is the last day to apply for a mail-in ballot?

The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is Oct.25 at the end of working hours. If you plan to apply today or tomorrow, your application must be received by this deadline, not just postmarked.

2.- How do I submit my mail ballot application?

You can submit your application in-person at your county elections department or by mail to your Early Voting Clerk.

In addition, you can email or fax a scan of your application to your Early Voting Clerk. This is useful if you want to make sure your application is received by the deadline. However, you must note that the clerk must receive the hard copy of your application no later than the fourth business day after the application deadline.

To apply, you can fill out the next form on the Texas Secretary of State’s website or download the English or Spanish language application.

3.- How do I know if I can vote by mail?

To be eligible for mail-in ballots you must be:

  • 65 years or older.
  • Sick or disabled.
  • Out of the county on election day and during the period for arly voting by personal appearance.
  • Expected to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day.
  • Confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.

4.- What’s next?

Once your mail-in ballot arrives, fill it out carefully and return it either by mail or by hand to your county’s Early Voting Clerk’s office. Your ballot must be received by Election Day, November 5.

To vote, you must provide one of the following numbers on your ballot by mail application and your mail ballot carrier envelope.

  • A driver’s license number
  • A Texas personal identification number
  • Texas election ID certificate number, issued by DPS.
  • The last four digits of your Social Security number.

Don’t wait—secure your vote now by applying for a mail-in ballot before tomorrow’s deadline!
