Debates tend to be turning points in close races such as the one Gov. Abbott and former congressman Beto O’Rourke are fighting. The Texas’ Governor race had its first and only debate last night, where both candidates discussed hot topics such as Gun Control, Immigration, and Abortion Rights.
A focus group poll led by KAMR Local 4 News’ Jackie Kingston gave the Democrat the advantage over the Texas Governor.
The pre-debate numbers had Abbott ahead by a generous margin, 40-27, but listed many undecided voters. Once the debate was over the poll showed a whole other story, placing Beto ahead with a 7-point margin.
Could it be that voters didn’t like Abbott’s strategy of deflecting blame on almost every subject? He is, after all, the current Governor of Texas.
Election day is November 8th, and many Texans are still undecided on who should be their pick to run the state for the next 4 years. Both candidates are sure to take up the opportunity to reach those voters who haven’t made up their minds yet.
