A Venomous Cobra Is Roaming Loose In A Dallas Suburb

It seems like wild animals have a thing for roaming around Texas cities. A cobra living in the suburbs of the Dallas area followed the steps of Houston’s fugitive tiger and escaped its home in Grand Praire.

According to The Chron, officials in the Grand Prarie neighborhood have issued a warning to homeowners about a deadly West African Banded Cobra that has escaped its house.

The cobra owners reported the escape to animal services, citing that the cobra disappeared at around 5 pm last Tuesday.

“If we would have just had a lock on the cage… There wasn’t a lock,” said the owner to Fox News 4. “And it could have simply been handled.”

Grand Prairie Police is asking people in the area to report any sightseeings of the missing Cobra, but they’ve advised people not to take matters into their own hands and let professionals take care of catching it.

“Don’t get overhyped. It’s not going to chase you down, anything like that,” said Dallas Fort Worth Wildlife, Randall Kennedy. “If you step on it, it’s going to bite you. If you grab it, it’s going to bite you. Other than that, you’re pretty safe.”

Safe being a term used a little bit too casually, considering that a bite from the venomous cobra could be fatal depending on your body type, there’s isn’t an antidote available for cobra’s poison.
