Beloved Tex-Mex Chain Aims To Spice Up Londons’ Dining Scene

Texas’ cuisine is making huge advances in European territory, as one of Texas’ most rapidly expanding Tex-Mex chains is opening its first international location in the United Kingdom.

First reported by the Chron, Velvet taco is set to open a location in Soho, London, by Spring 2025. Known for its creative and globally inspired taco menu, Velvet Taco will bring signature dishes like Spicy Tikka Chicken and Fish n’ Chips tacos to the UK, along with a full bar and their popular red velvet cake. This move follows the brand’s aggressive expansion across the U.S., where it now operates 50 locations, including in airports and major cities.

The chain began as a restaurant in Dallas and quickly expanded into all parts of Houston. It was founded by FB Society, a group also responsible for other successful ventures like Whiskey Cake, Twin Peaks, and Sixty Vines.

“When I joined the brand, we had just four locations,” Clay Dover, president and CEO of Velvet Taco, told the Crhon. “To be a part of not only Velvet Taco’s growth to 50 locations in the U.S. but also our incredible international expansion into London is nothing short of remarkable.”

In addition, the restaurant will be located in a highly contested area. Soho is one of London’s main entertainment districts, and its known for its nightlife.
