Elon Musk’s Grokipedia is Coming to Replace Wikipedia

Elon Musk has announced the creation of a new AI-powered encyclopedia called Grokipedia, a project under his artificial intelligence company xAI. The initiative aims to replace Wikipedia, the world’s most used online reference site.

The announcement was made via Musk’s official account on X, describing it as an “improvement over Wikipedia.”

The new platform will use artificial intelligence to generate and organize knowledge, with the goal of offering a more neutral and dynamic source of information.

In December 2024, Musk accused Wikipedia of lacking neutrality, being edited by a politically motivated group, calling it “Wokepedia”.

The name Grokipedia appears to be derived from the term “Grok,” used in science fiction to mean “deep understanding,” according to Unión Rayo. It also references Grok, the chatbot developed by xAI and integrated into X. Musk has stated that the project aligns with xAI’s broader mission to “understand the universe.”

While specific technical details about Grokipedia are still limited, early indications suggest it will combine elements of traditional encyclopedias with interactive AI capabilities, allowing users to search, interact with, and potentially edit information in real time.
