Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo Announces Separation from Husband

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo revealed Monday that she and her husband, David James, have separated, describing the decision as “painful” but ultimately the right step for both of them. Hidalgo did not provide additional details about the separation.

Earlier this year, Hidalgo and James were featured in Vogue’s wedding section, where she discussed their engagement, mental health journey, and two wedding ceremonies: a civil ceremony at the River Oaks Garden Club in November 2024, followed by a destination celebration at Amanpulo resort in the Philippines in December.

On Instagram, Hidalgo wrote: “This year, life took a turn that made us see things differently. So, very much unexpectedly, this day of our anniversary, David and I are separated. It’s not what either of us wanted. It is what we confidently, though painfully, feel is best.”

The couple has known each other for more than 10 years, and Hidalgo noted that they are still in touch and continue to respect and admire each other.
