Controversial Trump Statues Tour U.S. Cities Ahead of 2024 Election

A series of statues depicting former President Donald Trump in suggestive, provocative or mocking poses have been placed across the U.S., popping up in several cities including Philadelphia, Portland, and Washington, D.C.

In Philadelphia, a 43-foot nude statue, titled “In Honor of a Lifetime of Sexual Assault,” appeared in Maja Park. According to Newsweek, the statue’s plaque includes comments from Trump’s Access Hollywood tape, where he made lewd comments about women.

Meanwhile, other similarly controversial statues have appeared in Portland, Oregon, and Washington, D.C., making statements on high-profile events linked to the former president. A Washington statue depicting a desk covered with symbolic objects referencing the January 6 Capitol riot stirred mixed responses, while another installation portrayed a hand holding a tiki torch, an apparent reference to the Charlottesville rally in 2017.

Though the artists remain anonymous, the “Crooked and Obscene Tour” plans to bring these statues to various cities ahead of the 2024 election. The statues have quickly been removed in most locations, with some, like the Portland statue, dismantled by passersby.

It is still unclear whether the same artist or artist are behind all installations.
NPR reported that a group called Civic Crafted LLC wrote that the D.C. sculptures were intended to express the principles of democracy, justice and freedom.” The desk installation will be displayed until next Wednesday, which is a day after Election Day.
