Dennis Paul, representative for the special interest groups

Texans are all too familiar with the outsized role money plays in politics these days. Political action committees (PACs), lobbyists and special interest groups dole out huge sums of campaign cash to get what they want from elected officials. Politicians rake in this money to further their careers, special interests get what they pay for, and too often the public ends up losing. After nearly a decade in office, State Representative Dennis Paul (R-Houston) has become very skilled at playing the political money game.
Since 2013, according to campaign finance reports filed with the Texas Ethics Commission, Paul has raked in more than $335,000 in contributions from political action committees (PACs), lobbyists and special interests.
These donors are financing Rep. Paul’s campaign, and they are expecting their investment to pay off. They have not been disappointed.
Paul has voted for bills that limit and/or weaken a local government’s ability to regulate construction fees (HB 1449) and energy efficiency standards (HB 1736)
Who is Dennis Paul working for – his campaign contributors or the people he is supposed to represent?
