Linda Koop helps keep Austin rigged

Over the course of her tenure in the Texas Legislature, State Representative Linda Koop (R-Dallas) has learned to play the political money game better than most. She has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from special interest groups in just five years.
The political system in Austin is a rigged game in favor of the moneyed and powerful special interests at the expense of everyday Texans. And Linda Koop is playing right along.
Koop has received an estimated $830,000 from special interest groups, including more than $10,000 from insurance and finance agencies, $13,530 from attorney and law political action committees (PACs), and a whopping $120,000 from construction and building entities. And it looks like their investment in Koop has paid off.
Linda Koop supported a bill to remove local control by limiting local government’s ability to regulate new construction projects across the state. Additionally, in 2015, Rep. Linda Koop voted in support of two bills that purported to increase government transparency, but in reality it widened the spousal loophole, by shielding spouses of legislators from having to disclose the details of their financial interests.
Meanwhile, Koop voted to limit Texas voters’ options at the ballot box and made it harder for Texans to vote at all.
Rep. Linda Koop is just another part of the rigged political system in Austin – taking special interest money, voting to benefit herself and her contributors, and sticking it to everyday Texans.
