Musk Throws Tantrum And Manipulates Algorithm To Boost His Content

Unlike a child, Elon Musk threw a tantrum after not getting attention last Sunday, during the Super Bowl.

Musk deleted a tweet supporting the Philadelphia Eagles and demanded that Twitter engineers boost his content in users’ feeds upon seeing that President Joe Biden’s tweet  – also supporting the Eagles – received more views than his.

According to a new report from Platformer, Musk’s cousin, James, sent an internal message on Slack to Twitter’s engineers concerning a “high urgency” situation – Biden outperforming him.

Around 80 Twitter engineers were brought in to work on the issue, and a fix was implemented to the algorithm that allowed Musk’s tweets to “bypass Twitter’s filters,” which in turn “artificially boosted Musk’s tweets by a factor of 1,000,” promoting Musk’s content in everyone’s feed, as reported by Mashable.

This tweak in the algorithm is ironic since Musk took over Twitter arguing the social platform was a biased institution via Twitter Files.

As one Twitter employee told Platformer: “[Musk] bought the company, made a point of showcasing what he believed was broken and manipulated under previous management, then turns around and manipulates the platform to force engagement on all users to hear only his voice.”
