Dwayne Bohac keeps Austin rigged

Over the course of his tenure as a Texas legislature, Dwayne Bohac has taken over a $900,000 in special interest cash. As Texans know all too well, money influence decision making by elected officials, and that’s exactly what special interest groups and political action committees (PACs) count on when they contribute to political campaigns.
HB 3305 would have made it illegal for the governor’s big campaign contributors to be appointed to state boards, but Dwayne Bohac voted against the bill.
The political system is a rigged game in favor of the moneyed and powerful special interest at the expense of everyday Texans. And Dwayne Bohac has been playing right along.
Dwayne Bohac has been become familiar with the financial gains these special interest groups make in Austin, however, these ties don’t come without a cost. Rep. Bohac has a record of voting against the taxpayer and for the benefits of groups that donate thousands to his campaign, like he did in HB 1917 in which advanced pharmacy costs for patients.
In 2015, two bills – HB 3511 and HB 3736 – were introduced that purported to increase government transparency, but in reality widened the spousal loophole, shielding spouses of legislators from having to disclose details about their financial interests. While Gov. Abbott eventually vetoed the bills, Bohac voted for the both of them.
Meanwhile, Bohac voted against a bill to  to limit Texas voters’ options at the ballot box and to make it harder for Texans to vote at all.
Rep. Dwayne Bohac has just been another party of the rigged system in Austin- taking special interest money, voting to relax the rules on himself, and sticking it to everyday Texans.
