Jose Lozano keeps Austin rigged

Politicians are elected into office to vote in favor of the public interest, but are instead accepting special interest campaign cash that comes at the expense of Texans. The financial influences are range from lobbyists to construction industries, who have an agenda in Austin and expect elected officials to vote their way on the issues they care about. State Representative Jose M. Lozano (R – Kingsville) knows the cost of accepting these contributions, but continue to do so in order to further his political career.
Texans know this story all too well.
The political system in Austin is a rigged game in favor of the moneyed and powerful special interests at the expense of everyday Texans. And Jose M. Lozano is playing right along.
In 2015, two bills – HB 3511 and HB 3736 – were introduced to increase government transparency, but an amendment in both bills shielded spouses of legislators from having disclose details about their financial interests, widening the spousal loophole. Jose M. Lozano voting for the bills left Gov. Greg Abbott no choice but to veto both bills.
Despite Jose M. Lozano’s absence to vote on a bill making it harder for Texans to vote at the polling booths, he was present to vote in favor of making it harder for Texans to vote by mail and limit voters’ options.
Rep. Jose M. Lozano is just another part of the rigged political system in Austin – taking special interest money, voting to relax the rules on himself, and sticking it to everyday Texans.
