Texas Holds 4 Of The Top 10 Fastest Warming Cities In The U.S!

Texas heat is something serious, as we are experiencing one of the hottest summers in the state and also the country. This may be worse next year, as Texas has 4 of the top 10 fastest warming cities in the U.S.

According to a new moveBuddha report, Houston (#9), Austin (#8), McAllen (#7), and El Paso (#5) have recorded rises in the average summer temperatures that goes from 4.2 °F to 5.3 °F – all these cities are expected to get even hotter.

The interesting thing is that the moveBuddha report also says that extreme heat is not dissuading people from moving to these cities. In fact, another report projects that Houston and Austin will be in the top 3 most populated cities in the U.S. by 2100.

Despite the extreme heat in Texas, people from other states still want to move to these Texans cities.

A simple answer to why people still want to move to places with extreme heat, is because people don’t take climate as an important factor when they think of moving to another city.

Both McAllen and Austin had an important change in their population change between 2020 and 2022, with a percentual change of 1.7% and 1.3% respectively. Houston had a change of 0.1% and El Paso was the only city in the list which had a decrease in population of -0.2%.

For now, Texas seems a good destination for people wanting to move, but growing heat could become an important factor in the future, if temperature trends continue rising.
