Musk vs. MAGA: Billionaire Rips Into Trump’s Domestic Agenda

Elon Musk intensified his opposition to President Trump’s sweeping domestic policy bill on Tuesday, calling it a “disgusting abomination” and accusing lawmakers who supported it of wrongdoing. The legislation, officially titled the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act, aims to implement major Republican priorities such as tax cuts for the wealthy and increased spending on the military and immigration enforcement, while slashing funding for health, education, nutrition, and clean energy. Musk, posting on X, warned that the bill would “massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit,” criticizing it as “massive, outrageous, pork-filled,” as first reported by The New York Times.

Musk’s remarks mark a notable break from his previously aligned stance with the Trump administration. Once serving in a symbolic role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, Musk has shifted to a more vocal critic. While the White House has dismissed Musk’s objections, stating that President Trump stands firmly behind the bill, the criticism has been welcomed by some Democrats.

“The president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill,” said Karoline Leavitt, a White House spokeswoman. “It doesn’t change the president’s opinion. This is one big, beautiful bill, and he’s sticking to it.”Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer held up a printout of Musk’s comments during a press conference, urging Republicans to take note, “He’s right,” Mr. Schumer said. “Republicans should listen to him.”

The bill, which passed the House under Trump’s strong pressure campaign, now faces resistance in the Senate, particularly from fiscal conservatives concerned about its impact on the national debt.
