Conservatives Now Praise Simone Biles After Calling Her “National Embarrassment” Three Years Ago

Recently, Gov. Greg. Abbott praised Simone Biles for being the most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast in history, however, just a few years ago MAGA loyalists and Texas officials were calling her a “national embarrassment.”

After winning a gold medal, Abbott praised the gymnast.

“The most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast in history: Simone Biles, a native Texan. Incredible,” He wrote on X/Twitter. “Way to represent your state and your country.”

However, in 2021, when Biles decided to withdraw from the Tokyo Games citing the overwhelming pressure and stress to perform, conservative activists blasted her decision, saying she should have put the country first.

In a tweet, Texas deputy attorney general Aaron Reitz said that Biles was “selfish, childish, [and] a national embarrassment.” While he apologized later, he was not the only Texas conservative to criticize Biles.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Mark Davis, a conservative radio host from Dallas, wrote that her decision “reveals our softened world.”

“Sometimes you have to gut up and cope,” he added.

She was also criticized by national figures, Trump ally Charlie Kirk said she was a “selfish sociopath” and a “shame to the country.”

While Biles is now being praised by the entire country, she is apparently still at odds with MAGA loyalists, especially Donald Trump.

Recently, Trump said in an interview that migrants were “taking Black jobs,” when he was asked to define what a “Black job” is, he said it was “anybody that has a job”.

After winning a gold medal, she mocked Trump saying “I love my black job.”
