State Representative Lyle Larson (R – San Antonio) claims to prioritize protecting local schools and ensuring they have the resources they need. His voting record in the Texas House, however, says something quite different.
Not only did Larson voted against the expansion of Pre-K, as an amendment to HB 21, but he has a history of being an adversary of public schools and teachers. Larson has voted to take away money from public schools and send that money to private schools. He’s also been against improving the quality of teachers in the classroom. He has supported vouchers and even voted against an amendment that would have stopped the state from funding private school vouchers. Similarly, he has opposed measures that would improve the educator quality.
Texans need legislators who will do more than talk about supporting our public schools. Too often, Lyle Larson’s actions have failed to match his words.
