Texas Senate Committee on Redistricting Meets This Week

The Legislature’s redistricting process formally resumes this week with the first set of virtual hearings each day with a regional focus.

Monday, January 25, 2021 – 9 am – Regional focus: West Texas

Tuesday, January 26, 2021 – 9 am – Regional focus: South Texas

Wednesday, January 27, 2021 – 1 pm – Regional focus: North Texas

Thursday, January 28, 2021 – 9 am – Regional focus: Central Texas

Friday, January 29, 2021 – 9 am – Regional focus: East Texas

The Senate’s Special Committee on Redistricting is composed of 17 members with District 17 Senator Joan Huffman (R), as Chair and District 20 Senator Chuy Hinojosa (D), as Vice-chair. Other members include:

  • Sen. Brian Birdwell (R)
  • Sen. Dawn Buckingham (R)
  • Sen. Donna Campbell (R)
  • Sen. Kelly Hancock (R)

  • Sen. Eddie Lucio, Jr. (D)
  • Sen. José Menéndez (D)
  • Sen. Robert Nichols (R)
  • Sen. Angela Paxton (R)
  • Sen. Charles Perry (R)
  • Sen. Royce West (R)
  • Sen. John Whitmire (D)

This is the first time the Senate is implementing virtual testimonies allowing public comment online, as well as Senators questions.
