A Texas Company Was The One Responsible For Fake Biden Robocalls

A Texas company and an individual named Walter Monk have been identified as the source of last month’s fake President Biden robocalls urging people not to vote in the New Hampshire presidential primary.

According to a new report from Boston 25 News, Life Corporation and Water Monk were the source of the AI-generated calls. Authorities are now issuing a cease-and-desist order to the company for violating state election law by promoting voter suppression based on “fraudulent, deceptive, misleading, or spurious grounds or information.”

The order requires Life Corporation to stop violating the law, and according to Attorney General John Formella, the Election Law Unit reserves the right to take further enforcement actions based on conduct preceding the date of the order.”

According to the call monitoring service Nomorobo, between 5,000 and 25,000 calls were made.

The robocalls were received on Jan. 21 and stated in a AI-generated biden voice “It’s important that you save your vote for the November election,” as well as “Your vote makes a difference in November, not this Tuesday.” The robocall also falsified the ID caller information to appear to come from a number belonging to a state Democratic Chair.

Investigators also concluded that another Texas-based company, Lingo Telecom, was the voice service provider for many of the calls. Authorities also sent a cease-and-desist letter to the company, demanding that it “immediately cease supporting illegal robocall traffic on its networks.”

This case is being investigated by several state and federal agencies, including the Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force, made up of 50 state attorney generals, and the federal Commission Enforcement Bureau.

Authorities said they will continue to investigate whether Life worked with or at the direction of other individuals or entities.
