Safe in Austin Rescue Ranch, a nonprofit sanctuary for abused and disabled animals, is facing serious financial challenges after July floods damaged key parts of its property—including a sensory trail for children and several animal enclosures.
Home to around 200 animals with disabilities, the sanctuary offers healing experiences for children who have faced trauma, disabilities, or special needs, connecting them with animals who overcome similar hardships.
“Last year’s gala carried us through the entire year,” said Executive Director Jamie Wallace to KVUE. “But after the floods, we had to use our operating funds for repairs. Now we really need help.”
Safe in Austin doesn’t charge for its services and relies solely on donations. With support down, their Oct. 3rd ‘Rhinestones for the Rescue’ Gala has become more important than ever.

“We believe animals have the power to heal,” Wallace said. “We’re hoping the community will come together so we can keep giving that love back.”
