The race for Texas House District 138 concluded with Republican incumbent Lacey Hull defeating Democratic challenger Stephanie Morales.
At the time this article was published, Hull had secured 41,672 votes (57.2%) to Morales’ 31,240 votes (42.8%).
Hull, who has represented HD 138 since 2021, ran on a platform supporting conservative policies, including school vouchers and banning abortions. Despite previous controversies and scandals during her first term, Hull maintained strong support from her base and successfully fended off Morales’ challenge.
House District 138, covering areas like Jersey Village and Spring Valley Village, has seen rapid demographic changes in recent years, with an increasingly diverse population. Despite these shifts, Hull’s campaign focused on core conservative values, resonating with the district’s base, which still leans Republican.
Morales, a public school advocate and attorney, focused her campaign on opposing vouchers and increasing funding for public schools but was unable to overcome Hull’s incumbency.
