The general election for Texas House District 108 concluded on Tuesday night, with incumbent Morgan Meyer securing a victory over Democratic challenger Elizabeth Ginsberg. Meyer, first elected in 2014, will continue to represent the district, which has seen demographic changes making it a competitive seat for both parties.
At the time this article was published, Meyer had received 45,681 votes (58.8%) against Ginsberg, who received 31,962 votes (41.2%).
Meyer’s tenure has been marked by his leadership as chair of the House Ways and Means Committee and his voting record, which has placed him on the more moderate side of the Republican spectrum. During the 88th Legislative Session, Meyer voted to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton but opposed removing education savings accounts from the House omnibus education bill.
Meyer’s campaign received a significant boost from Governor Greg Abbott’s endorsement, and his fundraising efforts, along with his established presence in the district, helped secure his re-election. House District 108, which includes areas such as the Park Cities, Uptown, and Preston Hollow, remains one of the two Republican-leaning districts in Dallas County.
