Both major presidential campaigns are making strategic stops in Texas this week to shore up their finances as Election Day nears.
First reported by the Dallas Morning News, Republican candidate Donald Trump’s running mate, U.S. Sen. JD Vance, will kick off a series of four fundraisers. His events began last Sunday with a dinner reception in Austin and will continue Tuesday with three North Texas stops: a luncheon in Fort Worth, followed by two exclusive events in Dallas.
The first one is an “intimate” leadership discussion with President of Dallas Park and Recreation Department Arun Agarwal. The second Dallas event will be a high-profile private dinner that costs $100,000-per-couple and attendants would have the opportunity to take a photo with Vance.
Simultaneously, on the Democratic side, second gentleman Douglas Emhoff, Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, will lead a “Freedom to Vote” rally with Texas Democrats in San Antonio on Monday. This rally comes after homes of latino political organizers were raided under command of Attorney General Ken Paxton, saying the operation was part of an investigation of voter fraud.
The rally will be for Texas Democrats’ campaign dubbed “Texas Offense,” led by Senate Candidate U.S. Rep. Colin Allred. Emhoff’s presence is focused to show presidential campaign support for Texas Democrats, especially Allred.
The Second Gentleman will also headline fundraising receptions in Austin and Houston on Tuesday. Notably, former Democratic U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke is expected to join the Austin event as a special guest.
Both campaign’s efforts in Texas came near at the end of the third-quarter fundraising period closing on Sept. 30. With campaign finance reports due by Oct. 15, both campaigns are looking to demonstrate their financial strength as the election nears.
