If your Texas vehicle registration expires in October 2021, this may be your last chance to renew your registration and comply with local law.
Prior to renewal, a passing vehicle inspection is necessary. A passing inspection must be acquired on or after August 3, 2021, for registration renewal due in October 2021.

The Lone Star State offers multiple options for your renewal of Texas vehicle registration: online, by mail, and in person.
The first option, online, can be renewed online here, this option is available up to nine months past your registration expiration date. The State is asking people to allow them adequate time for processing and mail delivery.
For a renewal with the second option, by mail, you need to return the bottom portion of your registration renewal form, payment, and other required information to your county tax assessor-collector. The State is also asking motorists choosing to renew by mail need to allow the time for mail delivery and processing.
Lastly, the renewal in person can be done at local county tax offices who may offer their services by appointment only. You may find your local county tax office by following this link.
