Will The 2025 Rodeo Houston Break Its Attendance Record?

New year, new events, and big-name celebrities could make 2025 a record-breaking year for Houston.

The HLSR, abbreviated for Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, has had a significant presence on social media since the start of this year.

Speculation arose regarding iconic celebrities attending this year’s HLSR. These viral rumors received considerable attention, as the celebrities involved are among America’s most iconic music artists. There is a good chance that the 2025 Houston event could break its own attendance record; however, this is not an easy task by any means. Difficult challenges would need to be overcome, such as surpassing the 2017 record attendance, which reached a total of 2,611,176 people.

Who is expected to perform at the 2025 Rodeo Houston?

If you are from Texas and familiar with its cultural significance and roots in genres such as Pop, Mexican regional, and Country music, then you will likely know celebrities like Beyoncé (Texas Hold’Em), Grupo Frontera and a Selena tribute.

These well-known names were among the main artists for the 2025 Rodeo Houston lineup, however, these were just rumors which turned out to be false.

Nevertheless, these rumors weren’t just thrown out of nowhere, there were several factors that resulted in reasonable attendance for these celebrities, for example: RodeoHouston unveiled its genre calendar in November, with one particular date, March 18, set aside as a “wild card.” A month later, following her “Cowboy Carter Christmas” performance at NRG Stadium, Beyoncé shared a teaser on Instagram. The brief clip showed her riding a horse while waving an American flag, accompanied by intense music and the sound of horses galloping. That seemed very Texas-rodeo like, didn’t it?

Regarding Selena, a former Texan singer highly esteemed as both a musician and as a person among Texans, there were also important coincidences which provoked several rumors for a tribute on the 30th anniversary of her death.

The timing was perfect for a commemoration of her special music legacy and her impact on Texas folklore.

What does the lineup for the 2025 HLSR event really look like?

Aside from the rumors, the final lineup for the event is exceptionally exciting and very special.

The list features the top-ranked musicians and entertainers, who are well known across America.

The 2025 Rodeo Houston entertainer lineup will include Post Malone, who was in fact the “wild card” which was mysteriously announced, resulting in much gossip.

Post Malone’s latest album “F-1 Trillion” marks a transition from his usual rap style to country music, a genre that holds deep cultural roots in the state.

Texas is often considered the birthplace of outlaw country; therefore, Post Malone’s appearance at the folkloric event makes perfect sense and is generating significant attention and excitement. Referring to it with a powerful expression such as “wild card” seems righteous.

Other well-known musicians will be performing the event; the lineup looks like this:

  • March 5: Riley Green
  • March 6: AJR
  • March 7: Bun B’s Birthday Bonanza
