Former President Donald Trump is so desperate for money that he found a way to capitalize on Christianity by selling $59.99 Bibles.
Trump, a not particularly religious person, released on Tuesday a video on his Truth Social platform advertising the “God Bless the USA Bible,” inspired by the country singer Lee Greenwood’s song.
“Happy Holy Week!” Trump said. “Let’s Make America Pray Again. As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless The USA Bible.”
In the video, Trump says the Bible is his favorite book, though he couldn’t answer what his favorite Bible verse was in a 2015 interview with Bloomberg Politics.
The Bible includes a King James Version, a copy of the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, the Pledge of Allegiance, and a handwritten chorus of the Greenwood song.
The Bible’s website states that they used a paid license to use Trump’s image and that the money from the Bible is not going to Trump’s campaign. However, a person familiar with the business arrangement, confirmed to The New York Times that Trump receives royalties from purchases.
As reported by the Associated Press, Trump is facing a serious cash crunch amid legal bills as he fights four criminal indictments. In February, a New York judge ordered Trump to pay $454 million in penalties for lying about his wealth for years. And he has spent more than $100 million on lawyers and other legal expenses since leaving office, according to the New York Times.
Recently, he made strange deals to make extra money, debuting a new line of Trump-branded sneakers and selling NFTs. His social network even went public on Tuesday, rising more than 50% from its original value.
It seems that with Trump’s need for money, you could easily pay a license to use his image to make Trump toilets and he will happily make a commercial to promote them.
