Elon Musk is being sued for sexual harassment as a new report details the billionaire’s relationships with women at SpaceX.
Eight fired SpaceX engineers filed the lawsuit against Musk for creating “an unwelcome hostile work environment based upon his conduct of interjecting into the workplace vile sexual photographs, memes, and commentary that demeaned women and/or the LGBTQ+ community.”
Bloomberg reports that the plaintiffs were fired in retaliation for a letter they wrote in 2022 raising concerns about Musk mocking allegations of misconduct against him.
The plaintiffs alleges that SpaceX executives and Musk participated in a video mocking sexual misconduct and banter, and that included a scene with an employee demonstrating the correct way to spank a coworker.
“We need to pursue whatever avenues we can to continue advancing our claims,” plaintiff Tom Moline said. “Even Elon, with all his wealth and power, is not above being held accountable, right?”
The lawsuit comes as the Wall Street Journal reported that Musk had sex with an employee and a former intern, offered to buy a woman a horse in exchange for sex acts, and asked another woman to have his babies.
Although none of these women has filed a lawsuit or complaint against Musk, the plaintiffs have expressed that a high-level group around Musk complicitly does not apply the company’s rules to him, and that this contributes to a culture of sexism and harassment.
According to some executives and board members who spoke to the Journal, Musk has used illegal drugs such as LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, mushrooms and ketamine with some board members.
