Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, who supposedly runs four companies while campaigning for Donald Trump and having 11 children, somehow finds time to play hundreds of hours of video games. He’s even claimed to be one of the top 20 Diablo 4, so how does he do it?
Recently, Elon Musk claimed to be in the top 20 of Diablo 4 players in an interview with Joe Rogan. Surprisingly, his claims are true, as a leaderboard shows him at spot #19 in the world in terms of timed runs of Pit 150. Forbes’ Paul Tassi theorized Musk would have had to grind dozens of maybe hundred of hours to achieve this.
A tweet by Dexerto sparked many theories among users, as Musk previously has claimed to work seven days a week and take no vacation, in addition to spending the majority of his day tweeting. Some users noted that he can play hundreds of hours because he really doesn’t work.
“Because he doesn’t actually do anything at [his] companies,” wrote an X user.
Back in 2022, Musk also posted a photo of his level 121 Elden Ring character, just a month after the game was released. Achieving that level could have taken up to 120 hours.
However, another user noted that Musk could have been paying for achieving the feat, noting he would have to play eight hours a day.
“More proof this man takes credit for everything while doing nothing himself, you have to grind 8h a day since the start of season to even get close to achieving this,” wrote user @EskayOW.
There are several people online offering paid services to boost other players. Usually these boosters play under someone’s name and account. For example, getting boost to level 60 and endgame equipment could cost about $220.
However, The Verge noted that Musk’s claims are just simply a lie, just as his claims of self-driving technology and bulletproof Cybertrucks. The Verge reported that the leaderboard ranking players by their Pit completion times, Helltides.com, is not affiliated with the game’s developer. In addition, the ranks are based on screen-shot records submitted by players themselves, and the leaderboard has received only 881 submissions.
In addition, Forbes reported that Musk is no longer in the top 20.
“Musk could have legitimately claimed exceptional ability in Diablo 4 and left it at that,” wrote Ash Parrish for The Verge. “But, as is usually the case with billionaires, his ego got in the way, leading him to make statements that just aren’t supported in fact.”
