Austin has been ranked as the No. 1 most festive city in the U.S. in two different studies.
This is not surprising as Austinites know the city has a lot to offer in the holiday season like Trail of Lights, Community First! Village of Lights, Mozart’s Annual Holiday Light Show, Santa’s Ranch, or the Holiday Tree Light Show. The other non-Texan city to appear in the top five is Seattle, at No. 4.
But not only Austin has ranked in a high spot in the list made by Thumbtack, as Dallas, Houston and San Antonio also made its way into the top 5, officially making Texas the most festive state in the US.

- No. 3 – Houston, Texas
- No. 4 – Seattle, Washington
- No. 5 – San Antonio, Texas
- No. 6 – Atlanta, Georgia
- No. 7 – Phoenix, Arizona
- No. 8 – Tampa, Florida
- No. 9 – Denver, Colorado
- No. 10 – Orlando, Florida
The ranking made by Thumbtack only focuses on Austinites spirit, by counting the number of home holiday projects and dividing it by the total population. However, another study conducted by Travelbag, ranked cities based on search volumes of festive terms, where Austin also ranked No. 1. Also, Dallas ranked No. 6 in the list.
So, if you want to keep Austin as the most festive city in the US you should be interested in decorating your house with lights and other Christmas decorations. Also, you should check on stuff you can do this weekend to start feeling the Christmas’ spirit.
