U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett continues to make waves as she takes on a new role as a national co-chair for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.
The Dallas Democrat will be traveling across battleground states to rally support for Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
Crockett’s involvement will see her crisscrossing the nation, engaging with both organizers and voters. “Any state that is a battleground state, I will be there,” Crockett shared after a recent Dallas Regional Chamber forum, signaling her commitment to the campaign.
Fresh off the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, she has already visited key states like Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, and Pennsylvania, and was en route to Los Angeles to headline fundraising events, as first reported by The Dallas Morning News.
Another Texan serving as a co-chair is Rep. Veronica Escobar of El Paso, who was also part of the Biden-Harris campaign.
Crockett, 43, has quickly become a rising star within the Democratic Party, particularly after stepping up as a fierce advocate for Harris following President Joe Biden’s decision to step aside as the nominee. Her passionate defense of Harris was on full display at the Democratic National Convention, where she contrasted Harris’ life story with that of former President Donald Trump, describing Harris as someone who has “lived the American dream” while labeling Trump as “America’s nightmare.”
“One candidate worked at McDonald’s while in college at an HBCU. The other was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and helped his daddy in the family business: housing discrimination,” Crockett said, drawing laughter from the audience. “Kamala Harris has a résumé. Donald Trump has a rap sheet.”
Crockett’s sharp rhetoric has not only made her a standout in Congress but also a social media sensation. One of her most notable moments came in a heated exchange with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene during a House Oversight Committee hearing, which quickly went viral.
Crockett’s pointed response to Greene’s remarks sparked widespread online discussion and even led to a trademark application for her now-famous “B6” alliteration, which she has since used to raise campaign funds.
Crockett’s journey to Congress began with a single term in the Texas House, representing parts of southern, East, and West Dallas. When the late Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson announced her retirement, she endorsed Crockett as her successor, setting the stage for Crockett’s rapid ascent on the national stage.
