On Wednesday, Senator Ted Cruz got slammed by Fox News host Tucker Carlson for daring to call the Capitol insurrection a “violent terrorist attack.”
Cruz who has always been a supporter of the ‘Big Lie’ has recently attracted criticism from some of his GOP allies for his critique of the insurrectionists.
“We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week,” Cruz said in a Senate Rules Committee hearing (via the Daily Beast).
“And it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we saw the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate incredible courage, incredible bravery, risk their lives for the Capitol.”
Mr. Carlson, who believes the Capitol attack was a “false flag” orchestrated by federal agents in a bid to smear conservatives, didn’t take Cruz’s comments lightley and during his Fox show on Wednesday he retaliated.
“He [Mr Cruz] described January 6 as a violent terrorist attack. Of all the things January 6 was, it was definitely not a violent terrorist attack. It wasn’t an insurrection,” Carlson exclaimed. “Was it a riot? Sure. It was not a violent terrorist attack. Sorry! So why are you telling us it was, Ted Cruz?”
He continued, “What the hell’s going on here? You’re making us think, maybe the Republican Party is as worthless as we suspected it was. That can’t be true. Reassure us, please, Ted Cruz.”
