MAGA Inc, Donald Trump’s main super PAC, has decided not to stay behind in the social media battle and has launched its TkTok account, and it’s already a complete failure.
The PAC joined the popular short-video platform on Wednesday, following in the footsteps of President Joe Biden’s campaign, which joined TikTok in February.
Despite high expectations, MAGA Inc.’s TikTok account amassed 1,500 followers in its first two days, a somewhat underwhelming start for a political entity with a strong digital presence elsewhere.
The account has already attacked President Joe Biden’s economic policies and called independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. a “radical leftist.”
Taylor Budowich, CEO of MAGA Inc., reiterated the PAC’s commitment to promoting Trump’s “America First” agenda across various online platforms, including TikTok.
The Trump campaign is not the same as his super PAC is legally prohibited from coordinating with the latter. However, this is the first major attempt by a Trump account to join the platform. The former president doesn’t even have a personal TikTok account, but his campaign is weighing whether or not to join the platform, according to the Washington Post.
TikTok and its parent company ByteDance recently filed a lawsuit against the federal government over the bill, forcing the company to divest or face a ban.
Trump once attempted to ban TikTok during his presidency, but has since changed his stance now that Biden is pursuing a ban on the social media platform. Some people speculate that Trump’s shifting views on TikTok are influenced by Jeff Yass, a Pennsylvania billionaire and the largest donor in the U.S. election.
Trump announced his change of heart on TikTok after meeting Yass at a meeting of the conservative Club for Growth donors in Florida, according to Reuters.
So far, Trump’s conquest of TikTok has been a failure, but perhaps in the future he will find someone who likes his videos.
