Alvarado Sworn In As Senator, Special Election for Her House Seat Looms

On Friday, December 21st in Austin, Carol Alvarado (D-Houston) was sworn in as the new Texas Senator for District 6, and also resigned her seat as the Texas House Member from District 145. Governor Greg Abbott issued a proclamation announcing Tuesday, January 29, 2019 as the special election date to fill the Texas House of Representatives District seat recently vacated by former Representative Carol Alvarado.


Alvarado Wins Special Election For Texas Senate

State Representative Carol Alvarado (D-Houston) won last night’s special election for Texas Senate District 6. Alvarado received 7,602 votes (50.4 percent) against three challengers, narrowly avoiding an expected runoff.
